Limited edition Stornoway backpack made with un-dyed Harris Tweed®, designed exclusively by Fernweh for the Scottish Textiles Showcase.

Our limited edition waxed cotton canvas backpack is made from a durable combination of waxed cotton canvas and Harris Tweed®, woven here in Scotland. The bags are finished with oak tanned leather made in England. 

This sturdy bag features a waxed cotton canvas roll top with buckle fastener on the outside, Harris Tweed® front, padded reverse.  Inside laptop pocket and smaller zipped pocket for keys and a separate D ring. 

Handmade exclusively for us by Fernweh in Aberdeen, these practical bags are designed with longevity and durability in mind and made with the finest materials. The pure wool Harris Tweed is hand woven with undyed wool from the Cheviot sheep living in Scotland, and woven in the Western Isles of Scotland. Harris Tweed is protected by an Act of Parliament and can only be woven in the homes of the Harris Tweed weavers on the Isle of Harris and Lewis. Look for the Orb label of authenticity inside the bag!

For over 150 years, Halley Stevensons have specialised in weaving waxed cotton from their mill in Dundee, Scotland.  Waxed cotton canvas is, as the name suggests, a cotton that has been treated with wax to give it a water resistant finish. With use, the waxed cotton fabric will age, but these markings are an inherent characteristic of the cloth. Please follow the care instructions to maintain the waxed cotton in optimum condition. 

The bags are finished with oak tanned leatherwork from the UK's last oak bark tannery which uses a slow, zero waste process to tan each hide.

The backpack features a roll top with a leather buckle fastening for extra security and inside there is a double slip pocket with rivet reinforcement.

Care of Your Waxed Cotton Bag:

Hand wash only with cold water and leave to dry away from natural light.

Use a soft brush to wipe away excess dirt before cleaning, and a mild soap/detergent and cold water on more stubborn areas.

As with all waxed products, re-wax every 6-12 months to restore waxed cotton to top condition.

Do not iron.
